Lahore, October 14: Pakistan's Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday issued a death penalty to the convict, Imran Ali, for raping and murdering six-year-old girl Zainab in Punjab Province on January 2018. According to the order issued by ATC judge Sajjad Ahmed, convict Imran Ali will be hanged till death at Central Jail of Lahore on October 17, reported Dawn news. Going back to the case, Zainab, a minor, had gone missing after being abducted by Ali, and later her body was found near the house of her aunt Kasur. After the horrifying incident, widespread protest took place all around the world asking justice for Zainab. The protest became so intense that two protesters were killed by police while trying to manage the crowd.
To solve the case, police collected 1000 DNA samples from Kasur and its neighbouring areas. Later the police arrested Imran Ali, Zainab's neighbour after his DNA matched.
During interrogation, he confessed to raping and murdering Zainab and many other minor girls. The ATC has given him four death penalty, one life term and fine of Rs 4.1 million on February 17, 2018. The court announced the verdict for kidnapping, murdering and raping of Zainab and other girls.
