The construction work near the Berlin central railway station led to discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb. To defuse the 500-kilogram bomb,  will cause some transport chaos in the capital of Germany. It was found during a site at Heidestrasse in the district of Mitte. A mass evacuation has been planned which will result in stopping some trains, trams, buses and even some flights within the city's Tegel airport were said to take a halt. The bomb will be unearthed at a building site. People have been asked to stay away from 9.00 am local time until the bomb is defused safely.

Police said it wasn't clear how much time would the evacuation take. The zone includes government ministries, a hospital. Authorities declared an exclusion zone of 800 meter radius around the central railway station. The part of the city is a transport hub and on any normal day almost 3 lakh passengers pass through. Police also said the bomb was "safe for now", reassuring nearby residents that "there is no immediate danger".

Check the information about the WWII bomb disposal:

It may be 70 years after the war but such unexploded bombs are still found in the land here and they are potentially deadly. There have been discoveries of 2,000 tonnes of live bombs and munitions every year. The bomb disposal squads are well-practiced in defusing them and other ordnance. It is believed the about 3000 bombs lie under the city land.

Similar such evacuations take place every year. In May 2017, three bombs were defused from Hannover for which 50,000 people had to be evacuated. In several places almost half of the population has to be evacuated for the disposals. But these disposals do result in major disruptions within the city.
