Who is Omarosa and Why is She Feuding with U.S. President Donald Trump?
Omarosa became known on the American reality TV circuit for her multiple appearances as a contestant on Donald Trump’s show The Apprentice. But like her boss she moved from the fame of reality television to ascend the steps of the White House.
Omarose Onee Manigault-Newman goes just by her first name – Omarosa. She became known on the American reality TV circuit for her multiple appearances as a contestant on Donald Trump’s show The Apprentice and its sister programs The Celebrity Apprentice and All-Star Celebrity Apprentice.
But like her boss she moved from the fame of reality television to ascend the steps of the White House. U.S. Donald Trump hired her first as an advisor on African-American issues during his 2016 election campaign followed by giving her a communications role in the White House. However, within a year she was fired by Chief of Staff John Kelly for being unprofessional in her service.
Omarosa seems to want her pound of flesh and has released a tell-all book about her time at the Trump White House. She also allegedly has multiple recordings of her conversations with the President and she has referred to him as “racist, misogynist and a bigot.”
Trump has unleashed vitriol against his former adviser and called her a ‘lowlife’ and “Wacky Omarosa.”
As the President unloads on Omarosa while she appears on multiple channels to promote her book here’s a look at some of the highlights of her life.
- Omarosa has a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and has done her Master’s from Howard University
- She has been a White House Staffer before during Bill Clinton’s Administration. At her first White House gig, she was hired to answer invitations received by Vice President Al Gore; “she didn’t do her job, and it got everybody in trouble,” says a former Gore staffer.
- Omarosa was transferred to the White House personnel office, which later sent her to Commerce. Cheryl Shavers, who then served as the department's under-secretary for technology administration, has said that at the time, Omarosa was "unqualified and disruptive," adding, "I had her removed".
- Omarosa was labelled the 'woman America loved to hate' for her boardroom games in The Apprentice.
- She was named by E! as reality TV's number one bad girl
- Omarosa appeared on the first season of Celebrity Big Brother, a spin-off of the Big Brother series and placed fifth.
- Omarosa was dating actor Michael Clarke Duncan in 2010 but the actor suffered a serious cardiac arrest a few months into their relationship. Omarosa was the one to perform CPR on him in an effort to revive him. Clarke was in the ICU for over two months but did not make it.
- She then married John Allen Newman on April 8, 2017.
- A year into working for the Trump Administration, Omarosa was fired by John Kelly. In a recording she released of her dismissal, the man assumed to be Kelly speaks of "significant integrity issues" as the reason for firing her, mentioning her use of government vehicles. He also says: "If we make this a friendly departure... you can look at your time here in the White House as a year of service to the nation and then you can go on without any type of difficulty in the future relative to your reputation."
- Omarosa released her book during her time at the White House on August 14. The book is titled ‘Unhinged’ in which she alleges she has heard the tape recording in which Donald Trump could be heard using the ‘n’ word against African Americans.
Omarosa is sure to make the most of her time in the limelight, she knows how to. And it is guaranteed that President Trump already has his lawyers working over time to ensure she does not release anything truly damaging about him, if there are indeed ‘more tapes’.
