Washington, November 26: The White House Christmas Celebrations 2018 has officially begun, with First Lady Melania Trump sharing pictures and videos of the lavish decoration at the People's House this year. The Christmas tree placed in the centre of the White House is a tall Fraser fir tree, adorned with over 500 feet of blue velvet ribbon embroidered with gold.

Across the White House, 29 Christmas trees have been installed, apart from the velvet-laden main Christmas tree in the centre. The 29 trees placed adjacently bear 14,000 red ornaments. The decoration is in line with the theme of this year's Xmas and Holiday Season Celebrations: "American Treasures recognizing America’s unique heritage."  No Diwali Celebrations in White House This Year as US President Donald Trump Breaks Bush-Era Tradition.

"This is a joyous time of year when we decorate the White House for the Christmas Season," said the statement issued by the First Lady.

The statement issued by Melania's press secretary acknowledged the efforts taken by volunteers from across the US who contributed in the decoration for White House Christmas celebrations -- which began as early as August.

"Our theme honors the heart and spirit of the American people. Thank you to the many volunteers and staff who worked hard to decorate the halls of the People’s House in Christmas cheer. On behalf of my family, we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year," the First Lady said.

This is the second Christmas celebrations at the White House under the presidency of Trump. As per the custom, the People's House will be opened up for visitors throughout the month of December. Musicians, high school bands, choirs, and holiday-themed entertainers will be part of the festivities.
