Washington, January 31: United States of America President Donald Trump on Wednesday delivered his first State of the Union Address, to a joint session of the US Congress at the Capitol in Washington. Joe Kennedy III, grandson of Bobby Kennedy, will give the response from the Democratic Party’s side.  The President touted the economic progress the United States has seen since he took office last year. "Let us begin tonight by recognizing that the state of our union is strong because our people are strong. Together, we are building a safe, strong, and proud America", Trump said inside a crowded House chamber.

During his State of the Union Address, Trump called for a $1.5 trillion investment plan to renew the country’s creaking transport infrastructure. “We will build gleaming new roads, bridges, highways, railways, and waterways across our land,” he told Congress.  "Tonight, I call upon all of us to set aside our differences, to seek out common ground, and to summon the unity we need to deliver for the people we were elected to serve," Trump said.

The progress talks include the Republican tax overhaul that was signed into law in December.  President Trump introduced Preston Sharp, a 12-year-old boy from who noticed that veterans' graves were not marked with flags on Veterans Day. “I am asking both parties to come together to give us the safe, fast, reliable, and modern infrastructure our economy needs and our people deserve. Tonight, I am calling on the Congress to produce a bill that generates at least $1.5 trillion for the new infrastructure investment that our country so desperately needs”. Trump said during his address.

The annual address to members of Congress and the Senate gives the president the chance to outline his legislative agenda for the year ahead. Trump said every federal dollar should be leveraged by partnering with state and local governments, and tapping private-sector investment where appropriate.  He added saying an infrastructure bill must also streamline the permitting and approval process, getting it down to no more than two years and perhaps even one.

The United States President claim to have eliminated more regulations than “any administration in history”. “Let us open great vocational schools so our future workers can learn a craft and realize their full potential. And let us support working families by supporting paid family leave”, he said.
