Chiang Rai, July 11: The first video of the Thai boys, who were rescued from the Tham Luang cave complex emerged on Wednesday with emotional scenes in the hospital where boys are being kept in quarantine. The video shows several of the "Wild Boars" football team in the hospital, after being rescued from the cave in northern Thailand in a three-day operation which ended successfully on Tuesday.
According to a report by PTI, the doctors have informed that they are in good physical and mental health. The video footage made available by the Thai government showed them behind quarantine glass in bed wearing smocks and facemasks, flashing peace signs and doing the traditional "wai" greeting.
To recall, the children aged from 11 to 16, and their 25-year-old coach, ventured into the cave in Thailand's mountainous north on June 23 after football practice. All of them got trapped when heavy rains caused flooding that forced them to take shelter on a muddy ledge.
According to reports, they spent nine days in darkness until two British divers found them, before their drawn-out rescue that captivated global attention.
Following the successful extraction of the youth football team trapped in a vast network of caves, Thailand Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha on Wednesday expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in the rescue operation. “On the behalf of Thai Government, I would like to reiterate my sincere gratitude for the determination and sacrifice of all involved in this mission including individual volunteers, government officials, private companies and the press corp for their assistance in sharing expertise, manpower and equipment and also people around the world for their moral support throughout this ordeal,” Prayut said in his address.
