Mumbai, September 6: In a shocking incident, an American teacher and TikTok star allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old girl he met online and video recorded it in Thailand. The accused, Luke Rockwell (29), was arrested on Saturday in Bangkok, according to police. He appeared in court on Monday night and was released on bail.

The Daily Mail reported that the accused was charged with unlawful sex with a minor and recorded sexual acts. It must be noted that the age of consent in Thailand is 15. However, it's still against the law to conduct "indecent acts" with someone between the ages of 15 and 18 outside of marriage. Moreover, the victim's family said he passed on sexually transmitted diseases that caused her to become unwell. According to the police, the accused was employed at the Thai capitol as an English teacher when he was arrested. According to the victim's mother, the accused met the girl in March, shortly after she turned 16.  When the girl began to feel pain and exhibited symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), she confessed the relationship to her mother. The hospital verified the infections to her family, and shortly after, the police obtained a warrant to arrest Rockwell. She told NBC that the accused secretly video-recorded them having sex. In April, the mass arrest of six teachers on the grounds of having sex with the students rocked the US. The six female teachers in the United States were arrested in a span of two days. One such case was Ellen Shell, 38, of Danville, who was arraigned in Garrard County District Court with third-degree rape. Another incident happened in Arkansas where educator Heather Hare (32) allegedly had a sexual relationship with a teenager student. In Oklahoma, a 26-year-old teacher named Emily Hancock was arrested after local police were tipped off to her alleged relationship with one of her students.
