Washington DC, July 24: In a horrific incident in the United States, a woman died after allegedly jumping out of a moving car in Arizona during a police chase. Police officials said that 54-year-old Debra Murrieta jumped to death from her kidnapper's car after she called them seeking help during a domestic violence incident. The alleged incident occurred on Sunday, July 21, in Arizona.
Officials of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said that they responded to a call regarding domestic violence between Murrieta and her boyfriend, William Holloway (36). According to a report in People, Murrieta called the police at around 6.20 PM and said that her boyfriend had taken an illegal drug. She also told PCSD deputies that Holloway was driving the car up Mount Lemmon. After the call, police officials placed spikes along Catalina Highway to stop Holloway, but he swerved the car to avoid getting caught. Following this, the PCSD officials started chasing the car. Amid the chase, Debra Murrieta jumped out of the moving car. She was immediately attended by first responders and later shifted to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
At around 7.20 PM, PCSD deputies arrested Holloway after stopping him. During questioning, Holloway said that he did not realise he was being followed by police. However, he accepted that his girlfriend jumped out of the moving vehicle and he did not stop her. It is also reported that Holloway confessed to taking 20 fentanyl pills that day. Police officials learned that Holloway had a long criminal history in Pima County dating back to 2008. The police have booked the accused for several charges, including domestic violence, kidnapping, and homicide, among others.
