New York, October 3: An 18-year-old teenager has been arrested on charges of invasion of privacy after a hidden camera was discovered in a restroom at the Newport Centre Mall in New Jersey, US. The incident came to light on August 9, 2024, when an adult female found a black device in the family restroom on the first floor of JC Penney and reported it to authorities.
As per the report published by NJ.Com, the accused teenager was identified as Andy Cardenas. The Hudson County prosecutor’s office launched an investigation, revealing approximately 35 videos of adult women, four videos of female minors, and one video of a couple engaging in sexual acts. The footage also showed a male, later identified as Cardenas, setting up the camera. Teen Arrested for Recording Video of Women, Minors Using Hidden Camera
Authorities are working to establish a timeline of Cardenas’ activities, as the footage lacks dates and timestamps. They are also trying to determine the locations of all the videos. To aid in identifying more potential victims, the prosecutor’s office has released images of four unidentified restrooms. “Multiple electronic/digital files were recovered from the recording device, which contained images from several unidentified restrooms. The Special Victims Unit is seeking the public’s help identifying the location of the restrooms in the attached photos. It is not yet known how long the recording device was being utilised.” the prosecutor’s office said. Cardenas was arrested on October 1 and released on a summons. His first court appearance is scheduled for October 22.
