Jared James Dicus from Texas, US, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for beheading his newlywed wife, Anggy Diaz, and leaving her severed head in the shower.
Mumbai, August 6: A 23-year-old man in US state of Texas was sentenced to 40 years of imprisonment for murdering and beheading his newlywed wife. The accused, Jared James Dicus, confessed his gruesome crime of killing her wife, Anggy Diaz, in January 2023. The crime occurred in a cabin behind Dicus's parents' home, where Diaz's decapitated body was discovered, with her head found separately in the shower. The reason behind this murder is not known.
In January 2023, Dicus's parents made an urgent call in the evening about a possible death at their Oak Hollow Boulevard property near Magnolia, approximately 60 miles northwest of Houston. When authorities arrived, they found a small cabin behind the family home covered in blood. Inside, they discovered Anggy Diaz's decapitated body lying on the floor near the bed. After the incident, Dicus was apprehended by police and confessed to detectives that he had killed his new wife. The motive behind the brutal act is not known, but deputies noted that they had previously responded to domestic violence calls at the residence. Sean G. Whittmore, the Waller County Criminal District Attorney, noted that mental health concerns were considered before the trial. However, a psychiatrist confirmed that Dicus was competent to stand trial. Under the plea deal, Dicus is prohibited from appealing the verdict or using an insanity defence, according to Whitmore. Diaz's family has expressed satisfaction with the arrangement, which includes no possibility of parole for Dicus until 2043. Whitmore emphasised on Wednesday, July 31, "Waller County does not tolerate domestic violence. We will pursue justice for domestic violence victims and send a clear message to offenders that we are committed to fighting for our victims."
