Pomona, July 28: A 30-year-old man in US’ California was arrested for soliciting sex from a sex worker with his 8-month-old child in the backseat of his car during an anti-human-trafficking operation on East Holt Avenue, according to the Pomona Police Department.

KTLA reported that the arrest was part of a larger operation targeting human trafficking and child exploitation. When police pulled the man over, they found the infant unharmed in the backseat. The Department of Children and Family Services took custody of the child, and the father, referred to by police as a "sex purchaser," is cooperating with the investigation. This incident underscores California's ongoing battle against human trafficking. Earlier this year, the 10th annual Operation Reclaim and Rebuild led to over 500 arrests and the rescue of dozens of individuals, including children, statewide. Pomona was one of the cities involved in this massive operation, which included efforts from more than 95 federal, state, and local agencies, ABC News reported. US: Texas Teacher Who Had Sex With 15-Year-Old Student While Being Pregnant and Exchanged Nudes Found Guilty, Awarded Six Years in Prison.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna announced that the operation resulted in 539 arrests, including 40 suspected sexual traffickers or exploiters and 271 suspected sex buyers. In one such undercover operation on Holt Avenue in Pomona, task force personnel arrested 12 males, including two registered sex offenders, on suspicion of solicitation of prostitution.

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon highlighted the difficulties in prosecuting sex traffickers and sex buyers, noting that victims often fear testifying due to safety concerns. Gascon assured that his office is dedicated to ensuring the safety and protection of victims, making it a priority in their efforts to combat human trafficking.
