US: Man Fatally Shoots Grandfather in New York State After Argument Over Property, Texts Roommate About Murder Before Shooting Himself Dead

New York, June 30: A shocking incident of murder has come to light from the United States where a 24-year-old man allegedly shot his grandfather in his home in New York State. After killing his grandfather, Joseph Deponceau (80), the accused, Andrew Vahey, turned the gun on himself and shot himself in a state park. The alleged murder occurred on June 27.
Police officials said that the incident came to light when officers of the Irondequoit Police Department responded to a call where the caller said that there was "blood everywhere", reports People. Soon after officers reached the crime scene, they found Deponceau dead. Scott Peters, chief of the police, said that the deceased had died and appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to his upper torso. After the incident, cops said that the woman who 911 and alerted about the alleged shooting was Deponceau's girlfriend. She told cops what transpired and even revealed the number of the suspect who shot Deponceau. Soon after being alerted, cops reached Andrew Vahey's home and surrounded it. The officials established contact with Vahey's roommate, who told cops that Vahey messaged him saying that he killed his grandfather.
Vahey's roommate also told "cops that the accused told him that he was going to kill himself. Meanwhile, the police learned about Vahey being in Livingston County. They immediately alerted about Vahey's location and the car he was driving. Cops found Vahey's car in Letchworth State Park and launched a manhunt to nab the accused. Soon, cops evacuated the park and found Vahey walking in the park with what appeared to be a long gun. When they were approaching him, the accused allegedly shot him and was declared dead at the scene. During the preliminary investigation, cops learned that Vahey and his grandfather had an argument in the past few weeks over property and house.
