Ohio, May 23: A man in Ohio, United States (US), has been accused of murdering his girlfriend’s one-year-old son, Kareem Keita. The one-year-old boy suffered brain damage and died of cardiac arrest after the horrific assault. Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney, Melissa Powers, stated that the child was declared dead in a hospital on May 5 after being found unresponsive at home.

People reported that Edward Murray, 23, was detained in connection with Kareem’s death and subsequently indicted on multiple counts, including murder. The statement claimed that the child was killed on May 1. US Shocker: Teacher Who Appeared on Good Morning America TV Show Jailed for Having Sex With Teenager in Arkansas.

An investigation into Kareem’s injuries revealed that he had suffered cardiac arrest, resulting in brain damage, a shattered rib, a lacerated liver, bleeding eye tissue, and brain swelling. Doctors at a Cincinnati hospital stated that the injuries on the one-year-old “could only have occurred from violent impacts against objects or from delivered blows.” Kareem’s death was ruled a homicide. US Shocker: Transgender Driver Runs Over Elderly Man in Texas, Kisses Body Before Stabbing Victim Nine Times; Disturbing Video Surfaces.

At the time of the death, Kareem’s mother, Aminata Keita, had been dating Murray for around three months. The complaint alleges that on May 1, Murray took Kareem inside and put him “directly to bed” after they had been playing outside the house. Murray claimed to have spent “several minutes” in Kareem’s bedroom.

Prosecutors stated, “Murray was unable to provide any alternate explanation for how K.K. could have been injured so severely.” According to online court documents, Murray has been charged with two counts of murder, one count of assault, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

“This case is both heartbreaking and sickening. I cannot imagine the amount of evil required to hurt an innocent child so severely. It is genuinely disturbing to think someone capable of doing this might walk among us,” Powers said in the statement.
