Islamabad, April 30: Two motorcyclists were wounded after the car of a United States embassy's official hit their motorcycle on late Sunday night. According to police, American diplomat had been taken into custody after the accident.  The US diplomat, Chad Rex Ausburn, was driving a Toyota Jeep on the Constitution Avenue at Secretariat Chowk, Islamabad at around 9.40 p.m (Pakistan Time), said a police report. The motorcyclists were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital. They were identified as Nazakat Aslam Awan and Muhammad Waseem. Both the injured persons were out of danger now.

Ausburn was immediately detained by the police and was moved to the Secretariat Police Station and was released only after getting written communication from foreign ministry confirming his diplomatic position. Senior police officer Najeeb ur Rehman told media that authorities were analysing the incident and taking assistance from the traffic police as well. The Police allowed the US diplomat to leave after recording his statement. The cased has been registered against the motorcyclists for riding recklessly, reported Geo TV News. The FIR states that the motorcyclists came in front of jeep of a sudden which caused the collision.

It is the second accident this month that US diplomats were involved in road accidents in Islamabad. Earlier this month, on April 7, the car of US Defence and Air Attaché Joseph Emanuel Hall crushed to death a Pakistani motorcyclist in Islamabad. On April 24, The Islamabad High Court instructed the government not to allow the diplomat to leave the country until the court decides his case.
