UNSC Consolidated Terrorist List: Pakistan Tops With 139 Names, Only Indian in The List is Dawood Ibrahim
According to the report, Indian national Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar has held several Pakistani passports issued in Rawalpindi and Karachi. The UN claims that he owns a "palatial bungalow in the hilly area of Noorabad, Karachi".
New York, April 4: The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Wednesday released a list of terrorist individuals and outfits with Dawood Ibrahim being the only Indian named in the list. According to the report, Indian national Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar has held several Pakistani passports issued in Rawalpindi and Karachi. The UN claims that he owns a "palatial bungalow in the hilly area of Noorabad, Karachi".
A total of one hundred and thirty-nine (139) citizens and entities from Pakistan feature in the UNSC's consolidated list of terrorists or terror-supporting organisations. In the UNSC list, Hafiz Mohammad Saeed of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and the Jamaat-ud-Dawaa is listed as a person also wanted by Interpol for his involvement in terrorist activities. Haji Mohammed Yahya Mujahid, the LeT's media contact, and Saeed's deputies, Abdul Salaam and Zafar Iqbal, are listed under him. They are also wanted by Interpol.
As per details by the UNSC, Dawood, been born in Kher, Ratnagiri in Maharashtra belongs to the Kaskar family. The 62-year old most wanted person is known by many names like Memon F/N Dawood Ibrahim; Kaskar F/N Daud Ibrahim Memon; Dilip F/N Aziz; Kaskar F/N Daud Hasan Shaikh Ibrahim; Ibrahim F/N Anis; Ibrahim F/N Dowood Hassan Shaikh; Rehman F/N Shaikh Mohd Ismail Abdul; Hasan F/N Kaskar Dawood; Sabri F/N Dawood; Kaskar F/N Dawood Hasan Ibrahim; Aziz F/N Abdul Hamid Abdul; Hassan F/N Sheikh Dawood; Ebrahim F/N Dawood; Bhai F/N Dawood.
Daw ood Ibrahim Kaskar was listed on 3 November 2003 pursuant to paragraphs 1 and 2 of resolution 1390 (2002) as being associated with Al-Qaida, Usama bin Laden or the Taliban for “participating in the financing, planning, facilitating, preparing or perpetrating of acts or activities by, in conjunction with, under the name of, on behalf or in support of”, “supplying, selling or transferring arms and related materiel to” or “otherwise supporting acts or activities of” Usama bin Laden, Al-Qaida and the Taliban.
According to the UNSC report, Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar used his position as one of the most prominent criminals of the Indian underworld for most of the past two decades to support Al-Qaida and related groups. In particular, his criminal syndicate has been involved in large-scale shipments of narcotics, and has shared its smuggling routes from South Asia, the Middle East and Africa with Usama bin Laden and his terrorist network.
The report further states that a financial arrangement was brokered to facilitate their usage of these routes. In the late 1990s, Kaskar traveled to Afghanistan under the protection of the Taliban. Kaskar is also wanted in India in connection with the 12 March 1993 Bombay Exchange bombings, which killed over 250 people and injured over one thousand more.
The LeT is listed with its various aliases, such as al-Mansoorian, Paasban-i-Kashmir, Paasban-i-Ahle Hadith, Jamaatud Dawa and Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation. It must be noted that some of the terrorist outfits are listed as based in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border area.
According to details available, terrorist entities that were allegedly based in Pakistan, worked from there or had links to Pakistani individuals. The terror groups include Al Rasheed Trust, Harkatul Mujahideen, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, Wafa Humanitarian Organisation, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Rabita Trust, Ummah Tameer-i-Nau, Afghan Support Committee, Revival of Islamic Heritage Society, Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, Al-Harmain Foundation, Islamic Jihad Group, Al Akhtar Trust International, Harkatul Jihad Islami, Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, Jamaatul Ahrar and Khatiba Imam Al-Bukhari.
