London, July 27: A woman has lost an appeal in UK’s London against a court decision to remove her name from a child’s birth certificate after her ex-wife admitted to secretly having sex with their sperm donor. The case revolved around the legal parentage of a six-year-old girl, conceived through an informal arrangement between two women and a man they met online.

Sky News reported that the couple, referred to as P and Q, initially planned for artificial insemination with the man, F, after meeting him in a pub in 2016. However, when two artificial attempts failed, P and F had sex three times at P's parents' house without Q's knowledge. This resulted in the birth of the child, referred to as X, though it is unclear whether conception was through intercourse or artificial insemination. UK Prison Guard Sex Video Row: HMP Wandsworth Officer Linda De Sousa Abreu Arrested After Clip of Her Performing Oral Sex and Indulging in Other Sexual Activities With Inmate Goes Viral.

Following the couple's divorce, P revealed the truth about her encounter with F and secured a court declaration that he was the legal parent. Mrs. Justice Knowles ruled in April that the method of conception was uncertain, thus excluding Q from legal parentage under laws applicable to artificial insemination. UK Prison Guard Caught Having Sex With Inmate: Viral Video Shows Woman Officer Indulging in Sexual Activities With Prisoner at HMP Prison Wandsworth, Probe Launched.

Q appealed, arguing that P needed to prove the child was not conceived via artificial insemination. However, Lord Justice Jackson, along with Lady Justice Davies and Lord Justice Arnold, dismissed the appeal, citing insufficient evidence to apply the artificial insemination law. The court acknowledged the difficult outcome for Q and the inherent risks of informal conception arrangements. Despite this ruling, a separate welfare hearing granted all three adults parental responsibility for the child.
