Merseyside, September 7: In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 40-year-old woman named Marie Stevens met a tragic end after attempting to pet two Rottweiler dogs in Netherton, Merseyside. The incident occurred on August 18, when Ms Stevens encountered the dogs while they were on a leash. The friendly gesture quickly took a devastating turn as the dogs viciously attacked her, leaving her with severe injuries to her arms and legs.

According to multiple reports, the owners of the Rottweilers, a man and a woman, made desperate attempts to intervene and stop the attack. However, they were unable to prevent Ms Stevens from being bitten multiple times. The male owner managed to remove the dogs from the scene, while the female owner stayed with Ms Stevens until emergency services arrived. Tragically, the ordeal did not end there. On September 3, just a few weeks after the vicious attack, the North West Ambulance Service alerted the police that Ms Stevens had collapsed and passed away at her residence in Brighton-le-Sands. A post-mortem examination revealed that the primary cause of her untimely death was a pulmonary embolism. Meanwhile, a 41-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, both residents of Netherton, were arrested on suspicion of being in charge of dangerously out-of-control dogs causing injury. They were subsequently released on bail with conditions.
