Methil, October 28: In a harrowing case in the UK, two men, Dylan Brister and Cameron Allan, drugged, raped, and murdered a 24-year-old young father, identified as Calum Simpson, after their attempt to find a partner for a "threesome" via a dating app failed in Methil, Scotland. The pair spiked Simpson's drink with a potent sedative before binding him and recording their appalling sex assault on a mobile phone. During sentencing, the court condemned the men for their "depraved" actions and jailed them for life in prison.

The court heard that Brister and Allan had been seeking a third participant for a threesome through the dating app Grindr but were unsuccessful in their efforts. On November 3, 2021, Simpson, who had been out with a friend, accompanied him to the men’s flat, where he was subsequently isolated and attacked after the friend left. After drugging him, the men bound Simpson and filmed their assault, further illustrating their callousness. During the trial, Brister admitted that they continued their attack after Simpson had passed out. The video of the assault, initially deleted, was recovered by police from the men’s mobile phone, highlighting the premeditated nature of their crime. Simpson, whose youngest child had been born just days prior, was a father of four, later succumbed to intoxication from the combination of the drug and alcohol. During the trial, evidence emerged that the men had previously engaged in similar behaviour. Brister was sentenced to a minimum of 23 years, while Allan received 19 years. Both men were placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.
