New Delhi/Tokyo, October 13: With the most powerful Typhoon Hagibis hit Japan on Saturday and created catastrophic flooding in almost every region of the country, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences on behalf of all Indians on the loss of life. He wished the early recovery from the damage and devastation caused by this natural calamity. According to Japan's Fire Disaster and Management Agency, at least ten people died and more than 140 injured in the wake of a powerful storm.
Expressing his condolences for the affected families in Japan, PM took to Twitter and wrote, "I offer condolences on behalf of all Indians on the loss of life caused by super-typhoon #Hagibis in Japan. I wish early recovery from the damage and devastation caused by this natural calamity." He added that India stands in solidarity with Japan in difficult times. He wrote, "India stands in solidarity with Japan at this difficult hour. Personnel of the Indian Navy, in Japan on a scheduled visit, will be happy to assist immediately." Adding more, the Indian Premier appreciated the preparedness and resilience of the Japanese people. He wrote, "I am sure that the preparedness and resilience of the Japanese people and the leadership of my friend @AbeShinzo would be able to address the aftermath effectively and quickly. Japan’s preparedness against natural disasters is well appreciated."

Following the Typhoon Hagibis landfall, widespread flooding in 12 districts of Japan was witnessed. Reports state that around one million people have been evacuated, while the Japanese administration issued six million evacuation advisory. Rescue operations are at full momentum as police, fire department, coast guard and 27,000 staff of the self-defence forces are searching for missing and supporting the evacuation.
