New Delhi, September 24: The Washington Post reportedly laid off 25 per cent of its employees from its tech division, Arc XP, as part of a strategic shift. The daily newspaper and media company recently reduced its workforce from its tech arm which builds and sells publishing software to other media outlets. These layoffs can be seen as The Washington Post focuses on refining the vision for its product offerings. The tech-driven division is said to be making a strategic shift to adapt to new market demands.

As per a report of The Washington Post, the layoffs affected Arc XP, which is responsible for developing and selling publishing software. Professionals in fields such as advertising, media, and publishing use Publishing software to create, design, organise, and print digital materials. The company stated around 54 employees were impacted, which is about 25 per cent of the tech division’s workforce. Arc XP was established in 2015 by Jeff Bezos, the owner of the Post, to help the newspaper earn revenue in different ways. In an email sent to employees, Matt Monahan, the President of Arc XP, reportedly informed about the job cuts. He explained that the layoff decision was tough but essential for making the company more sustainable in the long run. Monahan emphasised that these changes are efforts to become a more sustainable company.
