The rescue of 12 children and their football coach from a flooded cave in Thailand is underway. The mammoth rescue is done with the help of US military personnel and British divers, a total of 1,000 Navy SEAL divers, police, soldiers, border guards and officials. All eyes are on the news about the success of this mission but unfortunately, one of the divers has died due to the lack of oxygen. This incident highlights the difficulties involved in this rescue mission and to get all these children safely out of the caves. The children are in good health but the tension of getting them out safe and sound is still hovering over the heads of the rescuers.

Chiang Rai deputy governor Passakorn Boonyaluck told reporters the sad news about the death of one of the volunteers involved in the mission. Thai Seal commander Apakorn Yookongkaew said, "On his way back he lost consciousness." Despite the tediousness of it, the group has faith and will continue to carry on their mission for a successful rescue. The children were scared and longing to go out when they first saw the divers who had come for their rescue. It raises concern as a professional diver could not make it through and the children are at a tender age.

The group of 12 children aged between the age of 11 and 16, along with their football coach had gone for an outing in the Tham Luang Nang Non caves in the northern province after a football game on June 23. But a heavy downpour of rain trapped them inside the caves. It took about 10 days for rescuers to locate them. Extra food and medical supplies have been taken inside. The parents of these children have camped outside desperately awaiting the news of their children.

The weather in the area is a major concern for the rescue, as the heavy showers continue. There is a fear that the caves may get flooded again, causing more difficulties in the mission. The cave is a complex network of passages and a very popular tourist spot in Thailand. The children are assured by the rescuers about being strong and we hope they manage to stay safe.
