Thai police sources while speaking to news agency AFP confirmed the rescue of the "ninth and tenth boys". They have been rushed from the cave site to the Chiang Rai Prachanukroh hospital, where the eight boys rescued earlier are also being treated.
The identity of the rescued children have not been revealed. According to Narongsak Osottanakorn, chief of the rescue mission, disclosing the names of freed boys would create anxiety among parents whose wards are yet to be rescued.
Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk arrived at the cave site late on Monday with a special "kid-sized submarine" designed by his company SpaceX. Although submarine has not been used so far by the rescue team, it has been kept on standby.
At present, the rescue operations is being led by a team of five senior Thai Navy Seal personnel, along with 13 specialised cave divers who have arrived from different parts of the world including the US, the UK and South Africa.
Authorities on Monday said the rescue operation needs to be completed within a span of three to four days as the oxygen level in the caves is depleting at an alarming rate. To add to the woes, the weather agency has predicted extreme rainfall in the coming week, which would virtually halt the life-saving operation.
