Taliban Kills 30 Afghanistan Soldiers in Attack on Two Checkpoints

According to reports, a cease-fire was being observed by the Taliban during the three day period of the Eid al- Fitr holiday but the Taliban rejected the government’s request to extend the ceasefire.

Kabul, June 20: In a brutal attack on Afghanistan state security, at least 30 Afghan soldiers have been killed by Taliban fighters. The attack by Taliban was carried out on two checkpoints in western Badghis province, as per media reports.

The fighters first targeted the checkpoints and then proceeded and ambushed reinforcements after arriving in the district of Bala Murghab.

Abdul Aziz Beg, head of the provincial council in Badghis, confirmed the above development to news media. He also added that a very large number of Taliban fighters attacked the army installations from various directions.

According to Abdul Aziz Beg, the attacks had started on Tuesday night and continued till the early hours of Wednesday, causing the casualties.

Another attack was carried out by the Taliban in the same province, and a police check point was attacked, added the head of the provincial council in Badghis.
