At least six bomb blasts were reported from different parts of Sri Lanka on Sunday morning. As per the latest reports, at least 99 people are reported to have died while more than 200 have been admitted to hospitals.
Colombo, April 21: At least six bomb blasts were reported from different parts of Sri Lanka on Sunday morning. As per the latest reports, at least 99 people are reported to have died while more than 200 have been admitted to hospitals. The explosions took place at three churches during the Easter Sunday mass and three five-star hotels including the Shangri La. Reports say that the ISI could be behind the blasts. The blasts were reported from - Kochikade Church, Katuwapitiya Church, Shangri La hotel, Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Kingsbury hotel, and a church in Batticaloa.
External Affairs Minister of Sushma Swaraj reacted to the reports of the explosions and said she was in touch with authorities in Sri Lanka. "I am in constant touch with Indian High Commissioner in Colombo. We are keeping a close watch on the situation," Swaraj tweeted. A helpline number has been issued for Indians trying to contact their loved ones in Sri Lanka. The High Commission of India in Colombo tweeted, "Explosions have been reported in Colombo and Batticaloa today. We are closely monitoring the situation. Security has been heightened in Sri Lanka as well as India following the multiple explosions. Among those injured in the blasts are tourists who were staying at the hotels that have been hit by explosions. No terror group has claimed responsibility for the blasts so far.
