Polokwane, October 3: In a shocking case that has ignited outrage across South Africa, two Black women were allegedly shot and fed to pigs by a white farmer and his employees. The incident occurred on a farm in Polokwane, where 45-year-old Maria Makgato and 34-year-old Lucia Ndlovu were reportedly searching for food when they were attacked.

BBC reported that the farm’s owner, Zachariah Johannes Olivier, 60, along with his employees Adrian de Wet, 19, and William Musora, 50, have been charged with murder. Authorities allege that after killing the women, the men fed their bodies to pigs in an attempt to dispose of the evidence. US: 11-Year-Old Boy With ‘Kill List’ Shows Weapons Arsenal to Classmates, Makes Written Threats of ‘Mass Shooting’ in Florida; Arrested (Watch Video).

Mabutho Ncube, the husband of Ndlovu, was with the women during the attack and managed to survive. He later discovered their decomposing bodies in a pigsty while with police on August 17. Ncube’s wife and Makgato were both mothers, with Makgato leaving behind four sons, the youngest of whom is just five years old. Murder Caught on Camera in Germany: Man Shoots 27-Year-Old Traveller in the Head at Frankfurt Central Station, Disturbing Video Surfaces.

“My mum died a painful death,” said Ranti Makgato, Makgato’s 22-year-old son. “She was a loving mother who did everything for us. I think I’ll sleep better at night if the alleged killers are denied bail.”

The three men appeared in court, where the families of the victims and protestors gathered outside. Magistrate Ntilane Felleng adjourned the bail hearing until early November to allow further investigation. The accused remain in custody as investigations continue.
