Shehbaz Sharif Arrested in Pakistan Over Ashiana Housing Scandal

The National Accountability Bureau has arrested Pakistan Muslim League (PML) leader Shahbaz Sharif in Ashiana Company corruption scandal on Friday.

Lahore, October 5: The National Accountability Bureau of Pakistan arrested Pakistan Muslim League (PML) chief and former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif's brother Shehbaz Sharif in Ashiana Company corruption scandal on Friday. The PML leader was accused of corruption in the Ashiana Housing case. Shehbaz was arrested after appearing for the routine hearing of Saaf Pani Company scam. Shehbaz Sharif Urge People to Vote Nawaz Sharif on 25th July General Elections.

According to reports, Shehbaz was allegedly accused of giving illegal contracts to a firm. He will be produced before the court for remand tomorrow. The case came to light when the NAB arrested Fawad Hassan, a senior bureaucrat of PIL for various corruption charges including Ashiana Housing case. During interrogation, he made revelations of Shehbaz Sharif's involvement in the case, after which Shehbaz was summoned.

NAB is also investigating Paragon Housing Society scandal, Saaf Pani case and Punjab Power Company corruption cases against Shehbaz Sharif.

Earlier in 2017, the National Accountability Bureau had launched an investigation on 56 public sector companies formed by PML administration in Punjab for alleged involvement in corruption.
