The nurse and patient had initially met through their professional connection, with Williams assisting in the treatment of his condition. Instead of calling for an ambulance as advised by her colleague, Williams hesitated, causing further delay in receiving the necessary medical attention. Williams initially provided false information to the authorities, claiming that she had met with Patient A after receiving a message from him on Facebook stating that he was feeling unwell. However, during a subsequent hearing in May, she admitted to the ongoing affair and revealed that the meeting that night was for a sexual encounter. This admission led to her ultimate dismissal from her position.

Following the case, the Nursing and Midwifery Council panel concluded that Williams had brought the nursing profession into disrepute and that her actions were incompatible with remaining on the register. The panel determined that allowing her to continue practising would undermine public confidence in the profession and the NMC as a regulatory body.
