Second US-North Korea Summit 'Quite Soon'; Kim Jong Un Writes To Donald Trump For Early Meet

The second summit between the United States President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is likely to take place in the near future.

Geneva, September 24: The second summit between the United States President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is likely to take place in the near future.  Trump while interacting with reporters at the United Nations, said that he would be having a second summit “quite soon”. Trump also said that the relationship between both the countries had improved this year.

Trumps’ remarks came one year after he threatened to destroy the communist state and also called Kim as "rocket man". According to a report published by Associated Press, Trump confirmed that secretary of state Mike Pompeo was working out the second summit with Kim. Trump said that the Kim had written a letter to him requesting for the second meeting.

Trump will also be meeting South Korea’s Moon Jae-in Today for discussing North Korea and other trade-related issues. President Trump is attending his second general assembly meeting with world leaders at the UN.

The first summit between the two leaders took place in Singapore on June 12. After the summit, Trump remarked that the dark period of US-North Korea ties had ceased to exist. After the meeting, North Korea had reaffirmed the April 27, 2018, Panmunjom Declaration, and showed commitment to work towards complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.
