Scripps National Spelling Bee 2019 Winners: 6 Out of 8 Co-Champions Are Indians!

The 92nd Scripps National Spelling Bee just ended and the probably had the most historic end with eight co-champions, namely Rishik Gandhasri; Erin Howard; Saketh Sundar; Shruthika Padhy; Sohum Sukhatankar; Abhijay Kodali; Christopher Serrao; and Rohan Raja. The spelling bee took 20 rounds to get over and included a run of 47 correct words. Reports have it that unprecedented step was taken after round 17 after all the contestants showed enough calibre to not misspell any word incorrectly. Therefore all eight were crowned champions of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The spelling bee ended with Rohan Raja spelling the word odylic correctly, similarly, Erin Howard spelt the word erysipelas correctly and she’s a co-champion with Rishik. Congratulations to our eight champions: Erin Howard; Rishik Gandhasri; Abhijay Kodali; Shruthika Padhy; Rohan Raja; Saketh Sundar; Sohum Sukhatankar; and Christopher Serrao."

The competition was on from May 26 and had its finals on May 31. The best speller will walk away with a cool $40,000 cash prize. In the given case, maybe $40,000 each.
