Rio De Janeiro, October 9: In a tragic incident, a three-year-old girl died after suffering a Scorpion bite while she was sleeping at her home in Brazil. The shocking incident occurred on September 25, 2023, when Maria Fernanda Brito da Silva was sleeping on her bed, and a Scorpion crawled under her clothes and stung her while she slept at her residence in Ribas do Rio Pardo. She died at a hospital after battling for life for six days.

Vanessa Ramirez da Silva, Maria’s mother, was horrified when she discovered a scorpion attacking her daughter. According to a translated report from Primeira Pagina, the 27-year-old said, “The image will stay in my head forever. She sat on the bed, turned around, and saw the scorpion stuck to her back. It wasn’t a small scorpion, it was a big scorpion. I hit her, and she, even though she was in pain, raised her little finger and showed that the scorpion ended up on my shirt. Maria's mother went outside after killing the scorpion and screamed for help as she started vomiting. Soon, the girl was rushed to a hospital. As per the report, the toddler suffered a cardiac arrest while fighting for her life at the Hospital Regional de Mato Grosso do Sul in Campo Grande. According to the health department data, more than 3,000 cases of scorpion stings have been reported this year in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. The yellow scorpion, Tityus serrulatus, is considered the most dangerous scorpion in South America.
