Rishi Sunak, Narayana Murthy’s Son-in-Law Inducted in Teresa May’s Government
Two Indian origin MPs have been inducted into her government in the reshuffle of her top team of ministers and secretaries on Monday.
London, January 10: Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy’s son-in-law, Rishi Sunak has been inducted in British Prime Minister Theresa May’s government following a reshuffle on Tuesday. 36-year-old Rishi Sunak, an Indian-origin lawmaker has been appointed as an undersecretary of state in Britain's Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. Two Indian origin MPs have been inducted into her government in the reshuffle of her top team of ministers and secretaries on Monday.
Rishi Sunak, the Conservative Member of Parliament for the Northern English constituency of Richmond (Yorkshire) is Murthy’s son-in-law. Along with Sunak, Suella Fernandes, a Goan-origin MP for the southern constituency of Fareham have been inducted in Teresa May’s government.
On Tuesday night, the UK Prime Minister official twitter handles tweeted saying, “Rishi Sunak MP becomes Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government @mhclg #Reshuffle”.
Various other women and ethnic minority lawmakers have been appointed to junior ministerial positions in the recent reshuffle. Sunak has been educated at Oxford and Stanford Universities and entered Parliament in 2015. He is a strong supporter of Brexit whereas Ms Fernandes, a member of the pro-Brexit Conservative organisation, European Research Group, is also a strong advocate of Brexit.
