Pornstar Stormy Daniels who is embroiled in a controversy over having an affair with the United States President Donald Trump was arrested on late Wednesday while performing at a strip club in Columbus, Ohio. Michael Avenatti, Daniels' attorney, took to Twitter about her arrest saying it "was a setup and politically motivated". Her lawyer writes that Daniels whose real name is Stephanie Clifford was arrested for "performing the same act she has performed across the nation at nearly a hundred strip club".
In a series of tweets, the high-powered attorney claimed that the adult movie star "was arrested for allegedly allowing a customer to touch her while on stage in a non-sexual manner". She was held while performing on the stage. However, strip club Sirens where she was scheduled to perform did not indicate an arrest. Avenatti in his tweet also said that they hope Daniels is "released on bail shortly" and "charged with a misdemeanour".
Here are Michael Avenatti's tweets:
Just rcvd word that my client @StormyDaniels was arrested in Columbus Ohio whole performing the same act she has performed across the nation at nearly a hundred strip clubs. This was a setup & politically motivated. It reeks of desperation. We will fight all bogus charges. #Basta

We expect her to be released on bail shortly. We also expect that she will be charged with a misdemeanor for allowing “touching.” We will vehemently contest all charges. #Basta

Daniels came to limelight after reports stated that Donald Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen paid the adult film actress USD 130,000 to keep quiet about an alleged affair she had with the current President in 2006. In an interview to In Touch Magazine, she allegedly described the affair. While Cohen said that he paid Daniels from his own pockets, Trump later admitted to giving the hush money to stop her from going public about the alleged affair with him.
