This marks the first instance of the North Korean army having internet access, leading to unexpected actions. The exact method by which this was discovered remains unclear.

According to a source cited by the *Financial Times*, Gideon Rachman, the chief foreign affairs columnist, revealed that North Korean soldiers deployed to Russia, who have never had unrestricted internet access before, are now reportedly "gorging" on pornography.
