Warsaw, October 20: The Poland police recently arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly posing as a mannequin and stealing valuables from a jewellery store in Warsaw. The accused, who has not been named, reportedly executed a "well-planned" heist at a jewellery store in Warsaw. Cops said that the accused narrowed down on the jewellery store after allegedly "hunting" various departments after the mall was shut down.
According to a report in Wion News, the Poland police even released a picture of the accused, which shows the man standing still like a mannequin and holding a bag in the window of a store in a mall in Warsaw. The man was unnoticeable as he blended well with other mannequins in the store. The man stood still as a mannequin until he felt it was safe for him to move. "With a bag in his hand, he stood still in front of a shop window, pretending to be a display mannequin. When he felt safe, he went hunting and robbed the island of jewellery," the police said in a statement. After leaving his act of being a mannequin, the accused walked past several departments in the mall before he zeroed the jewellery store.
However, the man ran out of luck when an alert security staff spotted him. Cops said that the accused allegedly went to a shopping centre bar in the mall and "ate his fill" before entering a designer clothes shop where he exchanged his clothes for new ones. The accused also stole cash from several cash registers and attempted to steal items. Finally, after he was spotted, the accused was arrested for theft. Later, he was remanded in custody for three months. If convicted, the accused is likely to face up to 10 years in prison.
