Though plane crashes are a tragic incident, several incidents of plane crashes are reported from around the globe every year. The year 2018 was no different, with some big plane crashes that claimed number of lives.

There are a number of reasons and various factors responsible for a plane crash. However, technical failure is the biggest cause of plane mishaps. The air traffic has increased over the years, but so has the number of plane accidents.

Below are some of the plane crashes that took place in the year 2018, that resulted in loss of lives and left the loved ones of the deceased with tears and memories.

 Lion Air Flight 610

On October 29, 2018, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, crashes into the Java Sea shortly after takeoff from Soekarno–Hatta International Airport in Jakarta en route to Depati Amir Airport in Pangkal Pinang, Indonesia. All 189 passengers and crew are killed.

Cubana de Aviación Flight 972

Cubana de Aviación Flight 972 was a scheduled domestic flight from José Martí International Airport, Havana, Cuba, to Frank País Airport in Holguín, Cuba. However, the 39-year-old Boeing 737-201 crashed shortly after takeoff from Havana city centre. 112 died and one passenger survived with critical injuries.

Saratov Airlines Flight 703

On February 11, an Antonov An-148, crashes shortly after taking off from Domodedovo International Airport, Russia. All 71 passengers and crew were killed.

Iran Aseman Airlines Flight 3704

On February 18, an Iran Aseman Airlines Flight 3704, an ATR 72-200 on a domestic flight in Iran, crashes into the Zagros Mountains killing all 60 passengers and 6 crew members on board.

US-Bangla Airlines Flight 211

On March 12, a Bombardier Q400 on an international flight from Dhaka to Nepal, crashes at Tribhuvan International Airport. 52 of the 71 people on board were killed.

Southwest Airlines Flight 1380

On April 17, a Boeing 737-700 en route over Bernville, Pennsylvania, suffers an engine failure at cruise altitude. Some debris enters the fuselage, causing substantial damage to the aircraft and loss of cabin pressure. The crew safely diverts to Philadelphia International Airport. 1 passenger is killed; another 7 are injured.

The above mentioned plane accidents were among the biggest plane crashes that took place in the year 2018. Efforts are made every year to bring down the plane accidents around the globe. However, unfortunate plane accidents keep taking place, which results in death of people.
