Paragliders Killed in Mid-Air Collision in San Diego’s Torrey Pines

In a fatal accident reported from the United States, two paragliders were killed in a mid-air paragliding crash above San Diego's Torrey Pines on Saturday.

San Diego, March 11: In a fatal accident reported from the United States, two paragliders were killed in a mid-air paragliding crash above San Diego's Torrey Pines on Saturday. According to reports, the paragliders fell from 75 feet (23 m) and plummeted onto the hill above Black's Beach. Police officials confirmed that both paragliders were men. According to the report, the accident occurred around 2:30 pm above one of the most popular paraglider ports in the US. Both men, professional at the sport, somehow collided, tangling their parachutes before falling and crashing. An eye witness of the event, talking to 10news, said, "It was spinning, but it was like in slow motion, and I could see the guy, I don't know what he was trying to do, but I felt bad for them."

In a statement, the Torrey Pines Gliderport said, "Gliderport is amongst the world’s safest soaring sites, it is with heavy hearts that we mourn yesterday’s loss". San Diego fire-rescue personnel had to use a helicopter to recover the bodies because of their position in the hill. Although, identity was not revealed, one of the men was experienced, while others were in the process of getting certification.
