Islamabad, Mar 28: Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was frisked at New York's John F Kennedy Airport last week. Abbasi was on a private visit to the US, where his ailing sister is being treated.
Abbasi was spotted adjusting his T-shirt after being frisked by the airport officials, which signalled that the Pakistani PM was subjected to the same treatment as other ordinary citizens travelling to the United States.
The Pakistani media lambasted the US for the treatment towards Abbasi, calling it a "disrespect" towards the PM for a nuclear-armed nation.

Although Abbasi was on a private visit to the US, he was reportedly met by US Vice President Mike Pence, who recommended him to take more stern action towards terrorist elements on the Pakistani soil, in a bid to recover from the lull in US-Pakistan ties.
The relations between Washington and Islamabad struck a rock bottom after President Trump, in his first tweet of 2018, blamed Pakistan of misusing the huge grants issued by the US over the past 15 years.
"The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies & deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more (sic)," Trump had said.
