Pakistan Government Yet Again Contradicts Its Earlier Stand, To Charge US $20 From Every Indian Pilgrim on Kartarpur Corridor Opening Day

The Kartarpur Corridor will connect Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan with Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. On Thursday, Pakistan Army added more confusion by saying that Indian Sikh pilgrims visiting the Kartarpur Sahib will need a passport to use the Kartarpur Corridor.

New Delhi, November 8: A day before the inaugural ceremony of the Kartarpur Corridor, here comes a major twist. The Pakistan government has reportedly taken a U-Turn and will charge US $20 from every Indian pilgrim on November 9. Pakistan government had earlier informed that no fee would be charged on the opening day of the Kartarpur Corridor. On Thursday, Pakistan Army added more confusion by contradicting its earlier statement and saying that Indian Sikh pilgrims visiting the Kartarpur Sahib will need a passport to use the Kartarpur Corridor. This came days after Prime Minister Imran Khan announced that Indian devotees would only need a valid ID to visit the revered Gurdwara Darbar Sahib. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was invited by the Pakistani government to attend the inaugural ceremony. However, the spiritual leader would be skipping the event citing 'personal commitments' as the reason. The Kartarpur Corridor will connect Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan with Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district of Punjab.
