Pakistan, July 25: Brands across the world are always on the lookout to encash on topical events to gather eyeballs and engage with their respective consumers. Similar trend was seen in Pakistan for their General Elections 2018, where brands, and restaurants across the country offered attractive discounts, freebies to lure the citizens go out and vote. From brands like Kebabistan, Dialogue, Burger Lab, Burger in Law, The Delhi, and others jumped in to the election bandwagon. This kind of marketing works really well in today's social media age. Brands not only come across as socially responsible, but they also meet their objective of pushing sales and driving conversations.

A day before the election, we saw how the sportsmen of the country using social media as a platform to urge people to vote. Sarfraz Ahmed , Pakistan cricket team captain, sent a video message to the nation appealing to think before voting. Former captains, Shahid Khan Afridi and Muhammad Hafeez have also shared their views in the matter. They highlighted how voting is a national duty of every citizen, and how essential it is because it shapes their future.

In an unfortunate incident today, during the polls in Pakistan, a blast took place in Balochistan's Quetta. According to reports, 25 people have been killed, and 40 are left injured in the blast. This time it is a fierce battle between Pakistan's jailed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) in Punjab, which is the biggest province.
