The deadly bomb blast in Quetta, on Wednesday, took lives of 31 people and left over 40 injured. The attack took place around noon, and as per initial reports over 20 people had died. The count of casualties is on a rise since the reports last came in. The ghastly incident took place, unfortunately, on the day of Pakistan General Elections.

It is also reported that it could be a suicide attack. The bomb blast took place near Quetta’s Eastern Bypass area. The site of the attack was a polling station.

The dastardly attack was aimed at the Tameer-e-Nau Model School, where polling was being conducted. It is said that the area was overcrowded as people were making their way to cast their vote.

The polling at the Tameer-e-Nau Model School has been halted. The injured people were hospitalised at the nearby Civil Hospital.

The attack seems to thwart the smooth election process in the region. Quetta is the provincial capital of Balochistan, and also happens to be the largest city in the province.
