Pakistan Downgrades Diplomatic Ties With India, Expels Indian Envoy After Article 370 Revoked in Jammu and Kashmir

Hours after Pakistan's Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry requested his Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to cut ties with India, Pakistan on Wednesday announced that it will downgrade diplomatic relations and call back its envoy to Pakistan.

Islamabad, August 7: Hours after Pakistan's Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry requested his Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to cut ties with India, Pakistan on Wednesday announced that it will downgrade diplomatic relations and call back its envoy to Pakistan. Along with this, information is pouring that it had expelled Indian envoy and suspended trade over Kashmir.

The decision to end the diplomatic ties with India arrived after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired a meeting National Security Committee at Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad. In the meeting, it was decided that Pakistan would downgrade diplomatic relations with India. Along with this, Pakistan would also suspend bilateral trade with India and review bilateral arrangements. Apart from this, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi informed that they would send back the Indian Ambassador to India, and would call back their envoy to Pakistan. Also, Pakistan stated that its military will 'go to any extent' to support the people of Kashmir.

Informing about the latest development, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said, "Pakistan will send back the Indian Ambassador to India. We will call back our envoy to Pakistan."

Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistani Minister Fawad Chaudhry had opined that Pakistan should call off their envoy from India and vice versa, as all measures for diplomatic and bilateral ties between India and Pakistan failed.

Khan even made a statement that on Tuesday claiming that India's latest move - to abrogate Article 370 - might result in another Pulwama. He opined that abrogation of Article 37O depicts the 'racist ideology' of India, as all dialogues to establish peace with the neighbouring country were quashed by ruling Indian dispensation.
