Pakistan Claims to Have Shot Down 2 IAF Aircraft And Arrested 2 Indian Pilots, Releases Video of Pilot Identified as Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman

The Pakistani Army on Wednesday claimed that they have shot down two Indian Air Force aircraft and have arrested two pilots of the IAF. The DG ISPR, Pakistan, Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that they shot down two Indian fighter aircraft of which one fell on the "Pakistani territory" while the other fell on the Indian side.

New Delhi, February 27: The Pakistani Army on Wednesday claimed that they have shot down two Indian Air Force aircraft and have arrested two pilots of the IAF. The DG ISPR, Pakistan, Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that they shot down two Indian fighter aircraft of which one fell on the "Pakistani territory" while the other fell on the Indian side. He further went on to claim that they have arrested two IAF pilots from the aircraft that fell on the Pakistani side. The Pakistani Army has also released a video of a man claiming to be an Indian pilot identifying himself as Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. Pakistan Army also stated that they had nothing to do with the IAF aircraft crash that was reported in Budgam in Jammu and Kashmir. Maj Gen Ghafoor also said that another pilot is injured and has been admitted to a hospital.

This comes a day after the Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out a massive air strike along the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan's Balakot. The IAF killed almost 200-300 Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists in the strike conducted in the wee hours of February 26 morning.
