Pakistan Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa Pitches For Peace With India, Says 'Dialogue Only Solution'
In a veiled charge against India, the Army chief said "our enemies" know Pakistan could not be defeated in a direct combat, hence they have launched a "cruel, evil and protracted hybrid war".
Islamabad, April 15: Pitching for peace with India, Pakistan Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa said the only solution for all pending disputes, including Kashmir, is a comprehensive dialogue mechanism.
While describing Kashmir as a "core issue" between India and Pakistan, Gen Bajwa said the dispute could only be resolved if both sides agree to hold "meaningful talks".
Pakistan, the Army chief said, is committed towards peace and stability in the subcontinent region, provided the adversaries refrain from creating internal disturbances on its soil.
"Our desire for peace must not, in any sense, be construed as a sign of weakness," said Gen Bajwa, further accusing India in a veiled manner of fueling insurgency in peripheries of Pakistan.
The Army chief said "our enemies" know Pakistan could not be defeated in a direct combat, hence they have launched a "cruel, evil and protracted hybrid war".
"They are trying to weaken our resolve by weakening us from within. Had it been any nation than ours, it would have disintegrated by now," he said, further crediting the nationalism in Pakistan for keeping the country united.
On Kashmir, Gen Bajwa said Islamabad will continue to provide "moral and political support" to the victims of "state terrorism". He appealed all international bodies to shift focus "on this unfortunate part of the subcontinent" to resolve the conflict at the earliest.
The general also promised crackdown on the terror groups in the western and north-western part of the nation. "Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad," he said, would prove to be a brutal cleansing exercise which would "wipe away the residual terrorists" on the Pakistani soil.
