Ola to Enter New Zealand After Australia, UK; Indian Cab Aggregator Expands Its Global Footprint
While Uber launched its business model as a disruptor of traditional taxi services, Ola says it wants to bridge the gap that radio taxi services created.
New Delhi, September 18: Cab aggregator Ola has recently announced its plans to enter the New Zealand market with Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington. The launch date, however, is not mentioned. This makes New Zealand the third international market that Ola forayed into this year after launching in Australia and the UK. India’s Ola Set to Challenge Uber In UK’s Taxi App Market
According to an Economic Times report, this is in line with the company's strategy of expanding in locations, where there is a significant part of Indian migrant population. With this, the Indian online cab booking place will compete with Uber in Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, and Zoomy in Auckland and Wellington.
Founded in 2011, Ola operates in more than 110 Indian cities with over 1 million drivers. The company said it operates in seven major Australian cities and has registered over 40,000 drivers.
While Uber launched its business model as a disruptor of traditional taxi services, Ola says it wants to bridge the gap that radio taxi services created. Ola will hence be the first app to link black taxis, as well as individuals who offer private hire.
