Ohio, August 25: A 27-year-old woman from Canton, Ohio, has been arrested after she allegedly stomped a cat to death and ate it in front of horrified neighbours. The disturbing incident took place on August 16 around 11 p.m. at a housing complex on 13th Street. Witnesses called authorities after allegedly seeing Allexis Telia Ferrell stomp on the cat's head, killing it, and then proceed to consume the animal in public.

According to a report in USAToday, the Canton Police Department responded to the scene and took Ferrell into custody that same night. She has since been charged with injuring animals, disorderly conduct, and violations related to the treatment of companion animals. During her arraignment on Monday, Ferrell’s bond was set at USD 100,000. US Shocker: Woman Caught on Camera Poisoning Husband’s Coffee With Bleach, Strikes Plea Deal to Avoid Prison.

The incident has sparked outrage, reflecting the broader sentiment in the United States against the consumption of domestic pets. This comes after the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation in 2018 to ban the slaughter of dogs and cats for food, an amendment to the federal Animal Welfare Act. The bipartisan bill underscores the growing consensus that such practices are inhumane and unacceptable in American society. US Shocker: Man Makes False Call to 911, Ambushes and Kills Two Police Officers in Deadly Encounter; Video Surfaces.

This latest case in Ohio is a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges in protecting animals from cruelty and the need for strict enforcement of animal welfare laws. Ferrell’s next court appearance will determine how the case will proceed, with the animal activists watching closely for justice to be served.
