Rome, November 14: A routine nose job turned fatal for a young woman from Sicily after she underwent a nose "touch-up" surgery at a hospital she had found through TikTok in Rome. The deceased, identified as 22-year-old Margaret Spada, travelled 500 miles from her hometown of Lentini to the hospital, seeking a simple cosmetic procedure. However, during the surgery, Spada slipped into a coma after losing consciousness under local anaesthesia. Despite multiple attempts to revive her, she was rushed to the hospital but tragically passed away three days later.
According to The Mirror report, Margaret had decided to undergo the rhinoplasty after discovering the hospital's advertisement on TikTok. The "touch-up" procedure, which she thought would be a routine enhancement, turned into a nightmare when her condition rapidly deteriorated during the surgery. While the exact cause of her collapse remains under investigation, the family’s lawyer, Alessandro Vinci, emphasised that the operation was supposed to be routine and not life-threatening. The tragic event has left her family devastated, with Vinci expressing disbelief at how such a simple procedure led to her death. Spada’s boyfriend, who accompanied her to the clinic, was reportedly in the waiting area when the situation took a turn for the worse. According to The Mirror, he filmed a short clip of the chaotic scenes unfolding in the operating room. This footage has since been handed over to authorities, who are using it as part of their investigation into the incident. Who Is Claudia Mancinelli? A post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the precise cause of death, and medical records from the clinic have been seized for review. The case has raised serious concerns over the safety of cosmetic surgeries found through social media platforms like TikTok. As per the report, the hospital's medical authorisation is now under scrutiny, with authorities investigating whether the facility was properly licensed to perform such procedures.
