Tokyo, November 19: Nissan Motor Co Ltd's chairman Carlos Ghosn has been arrested by Tokyo prosecutors for alleged financial violations in Japan, reported the Yomiuri daily on its digital portal on Monday. Carlos Ghosn has also been alleged of underreporting salary, said reports. Nissan Appoints Suja Chandy as Nissan Digital India Managing Director.
The Japanese automaker said in its statement on Monday that "Ghosn had used company's money for personal use and that it had been investigating possible improper practices of Ghosn and Representative Director Greg Kelly for several months."
Meanwhile, Renault shares fell sharply and were down 5.5 percent in early session trading. The company's shares were among the worst performing stocks in Europe, following reports of wrongdoing by Carlos Ghosn.
