The incident occurred in Afashio, Uzairue, when a young woman, identified as 16-year-old Aisha Suleiman, allegedly laced a pepper soup dish with poison meant for her ex-boyfriend after he ended their relationship. However, her ex shared the meal with four friends, leading to their untimely deaths.
The victims, identified by local police as Emmanuel Elogie (19), Ada Samuel (16), brothers Samuel and Jeffrey Ayegwalo, and another teenager known as Nurudeen, were discovered after concerned relatives searched Emmanuel’s residence. The group was found in various rooms, with some lying on the bed and others in the living room. Upon reporting the incident, Emmanuel’s father, Elogie Ezekiel, recounted finding his son and others lifeless in the apartment. Medical responders confirmed their deaths on arrival at the hospital. While poisoning is suspected, officials are exploring other potential causes, including generator emissions. The incident has generated widespread shock, with viral clips on social media capturing the moment family members discovered the tragic scene.
