Wellington, June 1: In a disturbing case of prolonged grooming, a former Auckland high school teacher has been sentenced to two years and eight months in prison by the Napier District Court in New Zealand. The man, now in his late 60s and whose identity is protected, was convicted of sexual connection and committing an indecent act with a girl aged 12 to 16.

According to the New Zealand Herald, the court learned that the illicit relationship began in 2007 when the victim was just 12 years old and the teacher was 50. Over the years, the teacher paid special attention to the student, which escalated into inappropriate touching and eventually a sexual relationship when she was still a minor. Sex With Student in US: High School Teacher Arrested For Sexually Abusing 15-Year-Old Boy in Arizona.

Despite the age difference and the teacher’s position of authority, the relationship continued, leading to cohabitation when the girl turned 16 and marriage when she was 22. However, the union did not last, and after moving to Australia, the woman reported her former teacher to the authorities in 2021, prompting his arrest in New Zealand the following year. England: Man Performs Disgusting ‘Self Act’, Has Sex With Wife on Bollard in Front Neighbour’s House After Parking Argument Escalates.

The case highlighted the teacher’s abuse of authority and the impact on the victim, who suffered from school dropout and addiction issues. Judge Richard Earwaker condemned the teacher’s actions as “premeditated criminal behaviour,” resulting in his imprisonment and registration as a child sex offender.
