New York Husband Shoots Wife Dead While Cleaning Handgun

The couple has three young children together.

A man accidentally shot his wife while cleaning his gun at their upstate New York home in Corinth. 35-year-old Eric Rosenbrock was "performing maintenance" on his legally owned handgun when a bullet from it hit his wife at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday. 34-year-old Ashley Rosenbrock was rushed to Saratoga Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to a police press release, an autopsy performed stated that the death was "consistent with the information and evidence that has been discovered to this point in the investigation," according to a police press release. According to a report in The Post-Star, Eric Rosenbrock is a science teacher in the Lake George school district. The couple has three young children together. An infection had killed their 18-month-old daughter five years ago; following they had together fundraised. Reportedly, neighbours have expressed shock in the death of the Ashley saying that the couple were dedicated parents to their children.

According to a WNYT report, Pastor Jason Proctor said that Ashley met Eric when they were teenagers at United Methodist Church. There have been several incidents of gun-related deaths at homes due to negligence in the recent past. Earlier this year in July, a man in Castle Rock mistakenly shot his wife thinking she was an intruder. She was hit in the abdomen and was expected to survive.
